It can be hard not to get wrapped up in concerns over the way things are in the world these days. Even within our local communities and our own sphere of friends and family, things are constantly changing. Nothing stays the same and we can never be sure what’s around the corner. It can be quite unsettling.
Our lives are filled with uncertainty whilst we try very hard to keep things under control and on an even keel. But this often takes a lot of work and can cause problems and stress. It seemingly never ends.
When we come to understand that the very nature of life is uncertainty though, we can start to let go of the mental pressure to want to stop change and uncertainty from happening. We can recognise the things we can make certain and accept the things which we cannot. This all starts with understanding the role of our mind in how we experience the world and how the teachings of Buddha and the reliable meditations which go with them can profoundly change our perspective and experience.
Anyone can use these teachings and meditations to enjoy the happy mind which can find with ease, the joy to be hand even in uncertain times.
Schedule
10.30am–11.45am
Fees
All tickets: £12
After the session feel free to stay for a chance to socialise and discuss the session and teachings with others.

About The Teacher
Kadam Bridget Heyes is the Principal Teacher at Nagarjuna KMC, a senior disciple of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gysatso Rinpoche, and has been practising for over 35 years. Kadam Bridget is the NKT-IKBU National Spiritual Director of the UK and is known for her powerful teachings, compassionate heart, and deep understanding of Buddha’s wisdom advice. Her teachings are exceptionally clear and she presents profound ideas in a way that are easy to practice and integrate into daily life.
The Stages of The Path, also known as ‘Lamrim’, is a special arrangement of all Buddha’s teachings that is easy to understand and put into practice. It reveals all the stages of the path to enlightenment and offers practical tools and meditations we can use each day to train our mind, overcome suffering and move towards fulfilling the purpose of our precious human life.
These half-day events are suitable for everyone, no previous experience needed. Everyone is welcome.
We have lots of demands; family, work and all that goes on around us and it can take it’s toll. Sometimes it’s just hard work and we lack the energy to deal with it! However, we can start to see life in a different way, developing views which actually free us from what we think drains and demoralises us and instead begin to feel energised and full of enthusiasm for whatever we need to do. It’s not a case of mind over matter, it’s more like a mind that knows what matters!
In this half day course, Gen Dragden, Resident Teacher at KMC Plymouth will explain how our current approach and understanding of our daily experiences, can sometimes be so unhelpful but that we can instead take a different perspective based in reality; not wishful thinking or ignoring things. Using these teachings and meditations we can change our mind and experience a natural lift in our energy levels which fill us with enthusiasm to take on anything. Find a spring in our step through these wonderful teachings and meditations.

We can’t predict the future, but we can do a lot, right here and now, to create the causes of the future we want. In this half day event we will explore the themes and meditation topics and learn to understand that what we choose to think, say and do now, very much creates the outcomes we will experience in the future.
Once we grasp the basics, we can start creating the causes for what we want in the future and avoiding the causes which we don’t want. We can step beyond our ordinary everyday views and aspirations and design a future self who will be free from all problems, hardships and difficulties regardless of what our material circumstances might be. Our future-self starts today, and it can be a joyful one which truly fulfils the meaning of our precious lives.

We are like a cell in the vast body of life. Whilst we may feel that we are a distinct individual separate from all others, we are nonetheless intimately bound up with all living beings. Without others we cannot exist and we affect others by everything we do.
More About This Event
We need others for our physical, emotional and spiritual well-being and when we understand how we are connected to all living beings, whether we know them or not, whether we may consider they have influence on our life or not, we will understand the reality that we cannot secure our own welfare whilst neglecting others.
On this half-day event we will explore how we are connected to everyone and that when we cherish others, we find our own happiness naturally increases. Connecting our love with others only brings peace of mind and joy for us and them.

When is a problem not a problem? Sounds like a riddle with no answer but in reality, we can turn any problem, difficulty or outright bad situation into a positive experience – keeping a calm and happy mind.
This is not just wishful thinking or looking on the bright-side. Happiness is a state of mind and so is having a problem. When we start to look past what immediately comes to mind when we face difficulties and understand that we have a choice in how we experience a bad situation we can start to turn a problem into a “non-problem”. We may still have to deal with that problem, but what changes is our state of mind – freeing us to deal with any problem in a calm and collected way; always keeping a happy mind.
On this half day event, we’ll explore why problems causes us distress, how we can turn that on its head and face the world with joy. This is a very practical method to make life easier and happier, and we can all use these teachings and meditations.
