We often think we have all the time in the world but from the moment we are born, the clock is ticking and before we know it we realise how we are getting older each day. There’s never more time being added to our precious human life, so we really need to find a way to stop worry about things and make the most of a meaningful life.
On this day course we will explore why we worry, how it does not help us and most importantly, how we can stop worrying and use our time in the most fulfilling and meaningful ways.

Gen Kelsang Gakyi is the Resident Teacher and Geshe Kelsang’s representative in Nottingham and has been studying and practicing Kadampa Buddhism for many years. Gen Gakyi presents Buddha’s teachings with warmth and clarity, in a way that is practical and useful in our busy daily lives.
This is a guided retreat with short teachings and guided meditations.
We all seek the comfort, ease and safety of the things, places and people we hold dear. We find solace and acceptance in these, and they are a form of taking refuge from our daily life.
In this guided retreat, Resident Teacher at KMC Plymouth, Gen Kelsang Dragden will take us on a journey to explore and deepen our experience and faith in the inner protection we gain from taking refuge in the Three Jewels
This event is suitable for everyone, and everyone is welcome. No previous experience is required.
Please note: These retreat sessions will not be guided, and no teachings are given during the sessions.
We may wish for spiritual realisations, but these depend upon creating certain inner conditions such as purifying negativity, accumulating merit, and receiving blessings.
Everyone is welcome and no previous experience is required. For those undertaking this practice for the first time there will be plenty of experienced practitioners who will be only too pleased to help and support you during the day.
Join us for a relaxing walk around Gara Point and Noss Mayo in the southwest of Devon, a short journey from Plymouth. Friends and family are welcome as are dogs. Enjoy some timeout with likeminded friends. Everyone is welcome.
This is a gentle paced walk suitable for everyone to enjoy but there is a steep climb up at one point but we will be taking it very easy and we can take all the time we need.
Whilst we are out and about, we’ll also take the time to engage in a guided meditation whilst overlooking the sea – how wonderful!
Meet at the centre or at the National Trust car park near Noss Mayo – see “Times & Places to Meet” below.
Along the route we will take time to enjoy a peaceful guided meditation with Gen Dragden and if we are lucky, we’ll find an ice cream van too!
What if the Weather is Bad?
This walk will go ahead regardless of the weather – it will just be a lot shorter and will emphasise finding a café!

There appears to be so much to fear and be worried about in our world today, but what if we could build within ourselves an inner protection that had the power to help and protect us from painful feelings such as anxiety or worry?
These half-day events are suitable for everyone, no previous experience needed. Everyone is welcome.
More About This Event
What if there was a power that enabled us to do the things we never thought we could and that enabled us to overcome the fear that we might fail when we tried? We all have the potential to develop this, all we need to do is gain familiarity with training our mind in positive attitudes and actions.
On this half day course, we will look first at the Buddhist approach to overcoming fear and worry: what is fear, how does it arise, what can we do to reduce it? We will then explore meditations and daily life practices that can help us take on life’s challenges without fear.

We have lots of demands; family, work and all that goes on around us and it can take it’s toll. Sometimes it’s just hard work and we lack the energy to deal with it! However, we can start to see life in a different way, developing views which actually free us from what we think drains and demoralises us and instead begin to feel energised and full of enthusiasm for whatever we need to do. It’s not a case of mind over matter, it’s more like a mind that knows what matters!
In this half day course, Gen Dragden, Resident Teacher at KMC Plymouth will explain how our current approach and understanding of our daily experiences, can sometimes be so unhelpful but that we can instead take a different perspective based in reality; not wishful thinking or ignoring things. Using these teachings and meditations we can change our mind and experience a natural lift in our energy levels which fill us with enthusiasm to take on anything. Find a spring in our step through these wonderful teachings and meditations.

These half-day events are suitable for everyone, no previous experience needed. Everyone is welcome.
We can’t predict the future, but we can do a lot, right here and now, to create the causes of the future we want. In this half day event we will explore the themes and meditation topics and learn to understand that what we choose to think, say and do now, very much creates the outcomes we will experience in the future.
Once we grasp the basics, we can start creating the causes for what we want in the future and avoiding the causes which we don’t want. We can step beyond our ordinary everyday views and aspirations and design a future self who will be free from all problems, hardships and difficulties regardless of what our material circumstances might be. Our future-self starts today, and it can be a joyful one which truly fulfils the meaning of our precious lives.

We are like a cell in the vast body of life. Whilst we may feel that we are a distinct individual separate from all others, we are nonetheless intimately bound up with all living beings. Without others we cannot exist and we affect others by everything we do.
We need others for our physical, emotional and spiritual well-being and when we understand how we are connected to all living beings, whether we know them or not, whether we may consider they have influence on our life or not, we will understand the reality that we cannot secure our own welfare whilst neglecting others.
On this half-day event we will explore how we are connected to everyone and that when we cherish others, we find our own happiness naturally increases. Connecting our love with others only brings peace of mind and joy for us and them.

When is a problem not a problem? Sounds like a riddle with no answer but in reality, we can turn any problem, difficulty or outright bad situation into a positive experience – keeping a calm and happy mind.
This is not just wishful thinking or looking on the bright-side. Happiness is a state of mind and so is having a problem. When we start to look past what immediately comes to mind when we face difficulties and understand that we have a choice in how we experience a bad situation we can start to turn a problem into a “non-problem”. We may still have to deal with that problem, but what changes is our state of mind – freeing us to deal with any problem in a calm and collected way; always keeping a happy mind.
On this half day event, we’ll explore why problems causes us distress, how we can turn that on its head and face the world with joy. This is a very practical method to make life easier and happier, and we can all use these teachings and meditations.
